Merge[edit]

I think this should be merged into Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors. It isn't a standalone game. I know alot of people have posted on websites like digg saying it was but they still point to the Penn & Teller torrent. Any objections? Manmonk 06:53, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

I just went ahead with that merge, I really home nobody minds. It really did seem stupid to have a standalone entry for a minigame --Thetriangleguy 16:32, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors is an unreleased video game starring the magician duo Penn & Teller that was planned for release initially on the Sega CD in April 1995. The game is a collection of several minigames and an adventure/platform game. All the minigames, with one exception, were made for the sole purpose of enabling the player to.

  1. Jan 13, 2016 A VR remake of the infamously tedious driving sim Desert Bus is in the works at Borderlands studio Gearbox Software, co-creator Penn Jillette confirmed this week. The upcoming remake will be.
  2. From the article: 'Penn says, 'The best part of that I think was an idea that was not mine, not Teller’s, and not Barry Marx, who designed the game with us. It was an idea by Eddie Gorodetsky, one of the producers on Two and a Half Men, really funny guy. I think that Eddie G. Is one of the funniest guys in the world.'

The podcast date where the game was discussed was 2006.03.01

Platforms[edit]

I really don't think all of the platforms should be listed in the blurb... the only platform for which the game was completely finished and playable was Sega CD; having the rest, including the PC version which was only 20% of the way along, isn't really accurate.--Trixter 03:22, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Go for it. Manmonk 14:59, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Desert Bus Elements[edit]

I am not clear on what happens if the bus crashes. Can we get more details on the rules perhaps? For instance: When you crash it says the bus is towed back to Tucsan, but does that mean the game is over? Do you lose points? Is this article covering more about just how boring the game is? — MrBucketT/C 18:09, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

In the 'The best part of that I think was an idea...' paragraph, something is missing. The quotation says what it is not, but never says what the idea is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.52.119.89 (talk) 04:22, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Penn and tellers - smoke and mirrors.jpg[edit]

Image:Penn and tellers - smoke and mirrors.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Saturn version also originally planned[edit]

Apologies if I'm screwing this up, I'm really very new to wikipedia editing. Just thought I should mention that there was also a Sega Saturn on the cards at some point - Promo material made by Absolute Entertainment that was sent to appropriate industry members displays the Sega Saturn name below the Sega CD name, and the Saturn name is also visible in watermark form on the same blurb page (3DO, Sega CD and some sort of CD-ROM logo are also present).I don't want to attempt to alter the main wiki entry myself as I'll probably mess it up, but I'm hoping someone else here will catch this and do it right? I can provide a link to a scan of the page... here it is.

'Best Part' of Desert Bus[edit]

From the article: 'Penn says, 'The best part of that I think was an idea that was not mine, not Teller’s, and not Barry Marx, who designed the game with us. It was an idea by Eddie Gorodetsky, one of the producers on Two and a Half Men, really funny guy. I think that Eddie G. is one of the funniest guys in the world.'. Okay... it's great to know that the best part was an idea by Eddie Gorodetsky but what WAS the part / idea ? 87.254.93.202 (talk) 22:45, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Just to alleviate the curiosity of future readers, this comment refers to Desert Bus being the best part of the Smoke & Mirrors collection.[1] — Smuckola 10:24, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Maximum score[edit]

An individual attempted to get the maximum score in Desert Bus, producing a run that lasts 41 days and ~17 hours. Of course, I'm not sure if it's a valid reference: http://tasvideos.org/2211S.html --Sigma 7 (talk) 22:14, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

No, April Fools jokes are not references. — Smuckola 10:24, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

iOS and Android[edit]

In the section «Desert Bus» it is mentioned that the game for Android and iOS was released in 2011 further down under «Remakes» it is 2013. Plus there is the question if it was removed from the Apple-Store because they don't longer support 32-bit applications or if it had other reasons. I have no answers to these questions. Sorry. The CW Network is one of the few streaming services that let you catch a full episode of popular TV series for free. You also get extra content for certain shows. In exchange for the free streaming service, the app has several shortcomings you should take note of.

Free CW streams

The main feature of Starz is its numerous movies that you can watch at any time

CW’s biggest draw is its list of top-rated shows, including DC’s superhero series such as The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. The platform has reality TV shows like Whose Line is it Anyway and Penn & Teller: Fool Us. CW even has many seed shows like Constantine and Alcatraz.

Apart from episodes, the app also provides a series of additional content from certain episodes. This includes behind-the-scenes video or cast interviews. It is important to note that each show on the app will not have all of its episodes or seasons. The platform will only have a few episodes available for streaming. Over time, the CW App will upload new episodes of certain shows. It’s a good thing you can get notification alert if this happens.

Free to watch

The second appeal of the CW App is its free service. You do not need to pay for anything or even enter a credit card just to watch Dynasty or All American. You can watch all of the site’s episodes for free.

The catch to the free content is the advertisements peppered around each episode. Expect about five to eight commercials appearing on the stream before a single show ends. This business model is understandable since the CW needs a way to monetize its videos someway. It is similar to the way local TV channels work.

Where can you run this program?

Penn Jillette

The CW Network app is available on devices running the Android OS such as phones and Smart TV. A CW App Apple version is also available on devices with the iOS 10.3 OS or better.

Is there a better alternative?

Shows on the CW Network is available in another streaming platform such as Netflix. The app has a full season’s worth of episodes from the likes of Supergirl and Charmed that you can binge on. You can even download the shows so you can watch it even when you have no network connection.

Our take

You get what you paid for with the CW App. In exchange for going through ads, you get to watch episodes of many popular TV series at any time you want. While you only get a handful of episodes at a time, the app updates its lineup over time. This allows you to still watch a full season of a TV show without having to pay anything.

Should you download it?

Yes, the CW App is free to use and enjoy. This kind of streaming service is like YouTube videos. But the CW gives you full episodes instead of just clips.
